What is the difference between MalCare and BlogVault when the dashboard looks the same?

The difference lies in your subscription plan. For smaller plans, BlogVault is focused only on backups and MalCare only on security despite similar looking dashboard. Higher plans for BlogVault and MalCare are same and there is no difference in the service.
